A most desirable cross
30 June 2020
A Frankel (GB) filly out of the Pivotal mare Rosental (GB) offered by Cressfield at the Inglis Easter Round 2 yearling sale arguably represents one of the most desirable pedigrees in the catalogue. While there is never a ‘sure thing’ in the Thoroughbred game there are certainly some crosses that consistently yield higher stakes percentages.
This filly, Lot 35, holds a pedigree scattered with very successful crosses. Galileo over Pivotal mares has produced 79.3% winners to runners, of which 44.8% were stakes horses, including 20.6% G1 winners. This cross is highlighted most recently by the multiple Group 1 winner Magical, who last weekend took out the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.
The Frankel/ Pivotal cross could be considered as equally as impressive. Of 5 racing fillies bred on this cross, 3 have been stakes winners. Overall, the Frankel/Pivotal cross has produced 81.8% winners to runners, 45.4% were stakes horses, including 18.1% G1 winners.
The Dam of Lot 35, Rosental (GB) also represents another successful cross, Pivotal over Kingmambo mares. This cross, among its many Group performers, includes Addeybb who dominated during the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Rosental, won two Listed races and was G3 placed. Sourced by Badgers Bloodstock she finished her racing career wearing the Cressfield colours, showing her toughness when travelling from Newmarket (UK) to Toulouse (Fr), winning by 3 lengths and then returning to Newmarket, all while approximately 60 days in foal to Frankel. She later shipped to Australia to foal this Frankel filly presented for sale. Rosental’s 2nd dam is the well known Australian bred mare Mannington, her 3rd dam being the Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay.
Rosental is in foal to Lonhro and will visit Pierro in 2020
